5 Steps To Keep Your Makeup Vanity Looking Great & Operating Like New

#1 – Keeping it tight and right: The single most important care you can do for your vanity is hardware maintenance. Most makers use the standard allen head bolts for the weight bearing components of your vanity desk. These are the bolts that you used to assemble your stool and to place the legs on your desk unit. These bolts as with all knock down furniture will begin to loosen over time. You want to make sure to periodically check these bolts with your allen wrench that was included in the hardware package with your vanity table. Make sure to always tighten these by hand and do not over torque (over tighten) the bolts. They should be tight but too much pressure could cause damage to the joints. Remember to use the tool provided and never use any power tools to tighten the bolts.

#2 – Keeping It Clean: Light dusting with a damp cloth made from lint free fabric is the best way to keep the surfaces clean and looking new. You can follow this with a light sweep with a fully dry cloth. Microfiber products do well and  make sure you do not use any furniture polish such as pledge. These products can create an oily buildup on your makeup vanity and actually attract more dust to the surface.

#4 – Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? You are and you want to make sure that you keep your mirror crystal clear as to have the best reflection when applying your makeup and wardrobe. You can use your favorite mirror cleaner and the spray foams seem to work the best in terms of a streak free wipe. You can find shop towels in the auto section of most stores. They are usually blue in color and work great for cleaning your mirror as they are lint free.

#5 – Keeping your vanity surface smooth: Your makeup vanity is made from either a laminate or some other type of faux wood product. It is extremely important to keep liquids and spills away from your unit. If you happen to spill something on the surface – wipe it up as quickly as possible and follow up with a completely dry cloth. The surface of your vanity could be damaged within minutes due to a spill and even leaving a fast food drink on the surface could create a water ring and permanently ruin the surface of your makeup vanity table. So keep liquids away!

So there you have it, 5 simple tips to help you keep your vanity functioning as it should and looking as new as the day you assembled it. As always, thank you for your readership and please comment or email if you have any other questions about your makeup vanity table.
